Tyler Mendoza is quickly making his mark on Chicago’s nightlife scene. After graduating from Ohio Northern University (2011) with a Business double major, Mendoza began working in management for JNK Concepts, overseeing the opening staff at the Chicago location of Bombay Spice. His interest in technology led him to a position at gDine.com, a hospitality startup firm where he served as head of Product Development. During his tenure, the company showed a 140% increase in sales.
With a long-term goal of owning multiple restaurants, Mendoza returned to hands-on restaurant work, serving as Beverage Manager at Untitled, a high-volume nightclub and supper club in Chicago. He implemented training programs and cost control methods, resulting in a bar program that averaged over $500k/month in sales with reduced liquor costs across the department by 20% in a year’s time. While there, Mendoza continued to grow his knowledge base, and co-founded Arc Mobile Inc., a software development firm named a “Top 10 Startup” by TechWeek Chicago in 2013. Arc Mobile’s software applications include the hospitality focused Dutch, a mobile app that allows customers to view, pay and split their tab from their phone, and Dono, a mobile donation platform for churches and nonprofit organizations. He lives in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago.
